In a significant move, Trump has now signed a new executive order to tighten rules on the H-1B visa program further. The new order targets companies that fired American workers recently or planning to fire them soon. Government departments will now check every H-1B visa application very carefully before giving approval to any company.
The White House said many tech companies and outsourcing firms used H-1B visa to get cheap foreign workers. According to official reports, tech companies fired almost 1.3 million US workers in last few years but still asked for new H-1B visas. Some companies even asked American workers to train foreign replacements before leaving job.
