Rohit Sharma, who is in great form, has set a new record in World Cup 2019. By hitting century (103) in the league match against Sri Lanka yesterday, Rohit Sharma became the only batsman to score 5 centuries in a single World Cup edition. His centuries tally in World Cup tournaments increased to 6. It equals with Sachin Tendulkar’s record of holding 6 centuries across Cricket World Cup tournaments.
By hitting three consecutive 100s in single world cup edition and five centuries overall in a single cricket world cup so far, Rohit Sharma holds unique record of the only batsman to score 5 centuries in a single World Cup edition. In all world cup editions he has played so far, Rohit Sharma holds six centuries and thus, he has beaten Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Australia’s Ricky Ponting who have made five centuries in world cup matches.
