Three political parties – one regional party JD(S) and two national parties Congress and BJP – are in fray. While a majority of exit polls opined for hung assembly, other exit polls were divided between Congress and BJP indicating a neck-and-neck.
The election is so tight since three major parties are contesting and the margins for victory and defeat is expected to be very minimal.
Besides this, the result of Karnataka Assembly elections has a national significance. The Karnataka result is expected to set the tone for 2019 polls. This is most crucial Assembly polls ahead of 2019 general election, neither Congress nor BJP can afford to miss the power. Also, the major battle is between Congress CM Siddaramaiah and PM Narendra Modi.
While BJP wants to grab the Karnataka and thus wanting to enter into Southern part of India where it had no strength, Congress desires to prove itself as strong Opposition across the country and wishes to regain the throne of Karnataka, one of the few states where Congress still holds power. As of now, Congress is ruling only in Punjab, Mizoram and Puducherry.
Will it be a hung? Or Will it be a Congress Govt? Or Will it be a BJP Govt?
Win: BJP (104) Congress (78) JDS (37) Others (3)
