Budget 2022 Highlights: Green Signal For Digital Rupee

The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has introduced the union budget for the year 2022-23. This is for the fourth time, Nirmala got the opportunity to introduce the budget and like the previous year, the budget has gone digital.

Here are some of the highlights:

— Effective Capital Expenditure of the Central Govt is estimated at Rs 10.68 lakh crores in 2022-23, about 4.1 percent of GDP.

— Efforts of central, state governments leading to jobs, entrepreneurial opportunities. 60 Lakh jobs in the next five years.

— 400 new Vande Bharat trains to be introduced. One product, one railway station will be popularised.

— Railways will develop new products for small farmers and MSMEs.

— Rs 6,000 crore programme to rate MSMEs to be rolled out over the next 5 years

— Implementation of Ken-Betwa rivers linking with estimated cost of Rs 44,605 cr to be taken up.

— Digital university to be set up to provide education.

— 3 schemes were launched to provide integrated development for women and children.

— 75 digital banks in 75 districts will be set up by scheduled commercial banks to encourage digital payments.

— 80 lakh affordable houses will be completed at Rs 44,000 cr under PM Awas Yojna in 2022-23.

— For mental health counselling, a National Tele Mental Health Program will be launched. A network of 23 tele mental health centres of excellence with Nimhans being the nodal centre and IIIT Bangalore providing technology support.

— Special mobility zones with zero fossil fuel policy to be introduced. Battery swapping policy to allow EV charging stations for automobiles will be framed.

— Digital rupee to be issued using blockchain and other technologies; to be issued by RBI starting 2022-23.

— Spectrum auction will be conducted to roll out 5G mobile services within 2022-23 by private firms.
