After suffering significant setbacks under the previous Jagan government, the capital region of Amaravati is now on the path to recovery under the NDA government. The second phase of construction and land acquisition has officially begun, marking the resumption of this long-stalled mega project.
The Andhra Pradesh government is set to initiate Phase 2 of land acquisition for the Amaravati Capital City Project—signaling a major push to revive the ambitious infrastructure initiative.
This phase involves acquiring an additional 3,500 acres of land, of which 200 acres have already been secured. The majority of land pooling—approximately 33,000 acres—was completed during the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) regime between 2014 and 2019.
The state government also plans to float infrastructure tenders worth ₹48,000 crore under the Greenfield Amaravati Capital Project. The bidding process is expected to begin in November 2025, with actual construction likely to start by January 2026.
