Amazon CEO Loses ‘World’s Richest Man’ to Bill Gates

Not Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, but Bill Gates is the world’s richest man now. In 2018, Jeff Bezos crossed Bill Gates and became the richest man and now, once again, lost the top spot after Amazon’s lacklustre Q3 results resulted in losing nearly $7 billion in stock value.

On Thursday, Amazon shares fell 7 per cent and this, in turn, made Jeff Bezos down to $103.9 billion. On the other hand, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’s currently worth is $105.7 billion.

To be precise, Until 2018, Bill Gates was the richest for nearly 24 long years. He also debuted on Forbes’ list in 1987 as a billionaire. Talking about Jeff Bezos, he first joined the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans in 1998, one year after Amazon went public, with a net worth of $1.6 billion.

In 2018, Jeff surpassed Gates with a net worth of $160 billion. But now, in after-hours trading, Amazon dropped nearly 9 per cent to $1,624 per share, leaving him to lose the top spot.
